Brayden's Journey

Tubes got out today!

For the past few days, Brayden has been doing great! He has been off his pain meds and being such a strong little boy. Yesterday, the editor of my town paper, The Sac Sun came to my parents to interview me about Brayden and his nevus.  He will write up a article to put in next week's paper.  He will also mention that we are selling cookbooks for fundraiser.  So hopefully that will help us sell some more cookbooks! We were very lucky that we had so much support last Sunday at church and we sold 30 cookbooks.

Today has been 10 days since his surgery, time has flown on by and that means we could pull his tubes out today.  Brayden has been getting so hot with all the gaze and bandages he had to wear with the tubes.  Poor little guy would be dripping sweat and hardly fussing at all.

One afternoon to cool him down, I treated him to some soft serve ice cream for the 1st time and he loved it! He kept wanting more, more , more! I figured that this poor little guy has been through so much, why not treat him to some ice cream.

This morning a friend of mine, Stephanie Bellcock came over to pull the tubes.  She is a nurse and lives right around the corner from my sister's place. We are very lucky that she was around and willing to help us out since our insurance doesn't work at the hospital in my home town.

Brayden did such a good job and hardly moved and he didn't even cry when the tubes were pulled.  Which was great! So after that, he didn't have to wear anymore gaze or bandages.  Im sure he feels so much better and tomorrow he will be having his 1st bath since surgery and also he will be getting his 1st hair cut from his auntie Holli who is a hair stylist.

Now we will just enjoy the rest of our weekend in Iowa.  On Saturday Brayden will be in a pet parade at the Sac County Fair, wearing his super hero cape with cousin Makenna and her dog, Bella.  They both have super hero capes too and the Three of them will be the Cape Crusaders. After that, Brayden will be in the baby contest at the fair.  I decided to put him in the theme catergory and he will be wearing his Chef uniform, like his daddy.  Now lets hope he smiles and flirts to win those judges over :)

Over all Brayden is doing so good, he makes this surgery seem like it's nothing.  He's such a good baby.  On Sunday we will drive back to Chicago and Monday morning at 9:30 we have a dr apt with Dr. Bauer and they will do the 1st fill.  Then that night Brayden and I fly back home to Arizona.

Once we get back, I will post more pictures from our trip and once a week when we do the fills, we will post pictures.  Thank you everyone for all the support!
